“I have worked with Pat and Laura of Manta Ray for over twenty-five years and am always amazed at what they can pull off and how fast they can do it.

Coming from a prop-making and sculpting background gives them a huge advantage over other set builders because they use a diverse range of techniques and materials. They can combine sculpted sections with normal set builds all in-house. Their finishing is supurb. Pat will go out of his way to find solutions with you that will work and that are affordable.

Over the years, we have made an enormous range of props and sets; it’s hard to know where to begin from futuristic machines to a life-size Egyptian Sphinx and temple in the desert in Jordan, an Afghan mountain village in a Quarry in Kent, a half-demolished building in Wembley, a ten-hectare festival set in the Chew Valley, a ‘Mouse trap’ set in the Old Vic, modernist sculptures in a 1920s New York apartment, an ornate art deco bar in a snowy forest. The list goes on - there seems little they cannot turn their hand to.”

About us

In 1992, we walked into our current workshop in Vanguard Court, Camberwell, armed with a couple of small machines, a canvas toolbag and a love of the creative process, 32 years on, and hundreds, maybe even thousands of props and sets later, we’re still there.

We pride ourselves in producing high-quality products, making anything from small props to film and TV sets, set pieces, furniture, shop windows, live events, exhibitions.

Our talented, long standing, and experienced team can create the ideal solution from a vast range of materials, always collaborating closely with Designers and Art Directors going beyond the necessary to deliver.

A Passion in the desert. 1997.
